Anarchists organise

DETAILS of a May Day march and rally in the Capital have been announced.

The march, which has been backed by the Edinburgh Anarchist Federation, will take place on May 5.

Marchers plan to assemble at 11am on Johnston Terrace, before they set off at 11.30am.

They are set to proceed through Lawnmarket, High Street, Canongate and St Mary’s Street before a rally at the Pleasance Theatre 12.30pm.

Marchers will be accompanied by Dalkeith Pipe Band.

Speakers will include representatives of Unison, Occupy Edinburgh and Edinburgh Against the Cuts.

More than 2000 people have been invited to the march on social networking site Facebook, with just over 100 confirmed as attending so far.
