Arlene dad feels pain of family

Among those watching Gilroy’s trial closely have been the family of Arlene Fraser.

Like Suzanne Pilley, the 33-year-old mother-of-two vanished, and her body has never been found.

She went missing from her home in Elgin in April 1998 and her husband, Nat, 53, is due to stand trial for her murder at the High Court in Edinburgh next month.

Her father, Hector McInnes, 71, has followed the Suzanne Pilley trial with a close understanding of the pain her family are going through.

He said: “In the early days, it was very difficult.

“But as time goes by you force yourself not to dwell on it.

“You try to concentrate on happy times that we had with Arlene. If you don’t, the whole thing can take a grip of you and destroy you.”
