AN army veteran threatened to kill himself in front of his girlfriend, a court heard.
Jamie-Lee Cougan burst into Donna McKenzie’s home, in Whitburn, West Lothian, hours after she ended their three-year relationship. He then threatened to kill himself with a knife, Livingston Sheriff Court was told yesterday.
Cougan, 24, claimed in court that his bizarre behaviour was not due to post-traumatic stress disorder, depression or anxiety. He claimed he was trying in vain to convince her to give him another chance.
Cougan – who is now teaching recruits in North Yorkshire – appeared from custody after the weekend incident. He pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner towards Miss McKenzie.
Sentence was deferred for three months for good behaviour – and Cougan was banned from contacting his ex-partner.
