Artist wins £1500 prize

A CAPITAL artist has been awarded a £1500 runner-up prize in the prestigious Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize 2012.

Rachel Ross turned judges’ heads with her work, Silver Spoons.

She said: “A core of skilled draughtsmanship is essential to my work. This allows for close study of day-to-day objects revealing a beauty not immediately apparent.”

The top prize of £15,000 was won by Antony Williams for his painting, Still Life with Electric Fan.

The Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize is designed to encourage representational painting.
