Arts charity gets chance to expand

A PORTOBELLO charity that provides arts programmes for people with additional support needs has set its sights on growth.

Orcadia Movement is planning to increase the numbers of children who attend its twice weekly after-school club from 24 to 36 due to rising demand.

It will do so with help from Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland, which has awarded it a grant of £6000 to cover the additional staffing costs.

Established in 1991, the Orcadia Creative Learning Centre operates a communication arts programme, which involves music, dance, drama, movement, mime, puppetry and creative arts.

More than 160 young people attend activities each week.

Project co-ordinator Jenny Clark said: “This grant will make a huge difference to us and will allow us to address the after-school club’s waiting list.”
