Arts gallery puts projects in the frame

THE New Town arts gallery Framed Edinburgh is launching two projects showcasing dance, graffiti and short films designed to support emerging artists in the Capital.

Re-Fuse is an exhibition and events programme showcasing the artistic products of the urban landscape, such as graffiti, while Bright Young Things is a celebration of the rising stars of Edinburgh’s creative industries, including contemporary dance.

Among the highlights of the project is the film short Friday Night Saturday Morning, which was recently nominated for a Scottish BAFTA.

The project launches on October 7 and will feature live music and a drinks reception at the gallery at 11 Gayfield Square.

Alan Forgie, the gallery’s creative director, said: “This important and meaningful movement in the arts has, unfortunately, often been dismissed as popular culture when clearly it claims an even deeper role.”
