Barges set Forth to mark anniversary

A FLOTILLA of barges left the Capital bound for Glasgow yesterday carrying special cargo – a good luck message from the Lord Provost.

Scotland’s largest city is preparing to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the reopening of the Forth & Clyde Canal.

The flotilla, believed to be the largest ever on the waterway, will travel to the Falkirk Wheel where the first boats will arrive on Sunday.
