Beauty contest hopeful walks free from ugly racism charge

A MISS Scotland contestant has walked free from court after allegations that she shouted racist remarks during a scuffle with bouncers at a city nightspot were dropped.

Jamey Bowers, 22, was facing claims she struggled with security staff at Why Not? nightclub in George Street and was also fighting with, and swearing at, members of the public during the alleged incident in May.

The Leith model, who denied all the charges, was also said to have made racially offensive remarks at Kacper Sinicki. But the case against her was deserted during a short hearing at the city’s sheriff court yesterday.

Miss Bowers started dating Hearts footballer Andy Driver in 2008, became Miss Scotland runner-up in 2009 and was third in the competition the following year.

It is not known whether the couple are still an item.
