PROSECUTORS are believed to be lining up a bid to extend the six-year sentence given to a joyrider who killed city nurse Jill Pirrie.

Dylan Jenkin, 18, was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow earlier this month, after he mowed down the mum-of-one on Dalkeith Road, while fleeing from police in an uninsured car.

Jill had just finished her shift at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on May 12 when the tragedy struck as she was walking home. Her family branded Jenkin’s punishment for causing death by dangerous driving a “sick joke”.

The Crown Office is now reportedly looking at the possibility of an appeal against the sentence. Prosecutors can appeal any sentence if they believe it to be lenient.
