A motorcyclist has been charged by police following a collision with a six-year-old girl in Edinburgh.

The 18-year-old motorcyclist was charged with various road traffic offences, as well as attempting to defeat the ends of justice, after a six-year-old girl was knocked down on the promenade at Cramond.

Police were called to the incident near Marine Drive, in Edinburgh, at around 5pm yesterday.

A spokesman said: “Police Scotland was called to an incident in Silverknowes after a motorcyclist collided with a six-year-old girl.

“The girl sustained minor injuries for which she was treated.”

The 18-year-old is due in court today
