B&M moves into Maybury site

DISCOUNT store B&M is to open a flagship shop in the Capital, creating 80 jobs.

The firm has taken over the former Comet store on Glasgow Road and will open the 30,000sq ft homestore this weekend. It will offer a wider range of products than usual, from food and toiletries to toys, Christmas decorations and gifts.

Director Robin Arora said: “B&M have been looking for a flagship store in Edinburgh for over two years now. The former Comet store in Maybury was the perfect opportunity and we are pleased to give the premises a new lease of life following the closure of the Comet and the subsequent loss of jobs.”

B&M is one of the UK’s largest retailers, with more than two million shoppers per week.
