Body found in hunt for missing woman

THE body of a woman who went missing yesterday has been found in a wooded area near Newbattle Abbey College campus in Midlothian.

The woman’s identity has been confirmed as 53-year-old Maureen Brown from Dalkeith, who was reported missing yesterday evening.

Police said there appears to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Mrs Brown was last seen in a property in Woodburn View, Dalkeith at around 1pm yesterday.

After she failed to make contact with friends or family, who are now growing concerned for her safety.

Police had sent out a public appeal this morning in the hope of tracing her, and said her disappearance was “very much out of character.”
