The body of a city soldier who died while on holiday in Florida has been flown back to Scotland.
Private Shaun Cole, 22, was killed while visiting Miami for the Ultra Music Festival last month.
The exact circumstances of his death are still being investigated, although detectives believe he may have been the victim of a hit and run.
Pte Cole, of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (1 SCOTS), had served a tour of Afghanistan and returned from a four-month visit to Sierra Leone to support the Ebola effort just two months ago.
His body was flown back to Scotland on Wednesday afternoon and it is understood that arrangements are now being made for his funeral next week.
Devastated relatives and friends of the popular soldier have rallied around to support his family and remember him.
Tributes have been left outside the Hearts fan’s former schools and family home, and a round of applause was organised at his team’s game against Rangers last weekend.
Cole’s body was found in the early hours of March 29, on the same weekend that a young Canadian man, also 22, was seriously injured in a hit and run elsewhere in Miami.
