Bones ID ‘to take months’

IT could take months to identify human remains found in Holyrood Park, police have said.

The discovery last week is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers from the force and the Ministry of Defence began investigating after the bones were stumbled upon by a hillwalker at the foot of Salisbury Crags.

Police abseiled down the crags to retrieve the remains.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said the age of the bones had yet to be established and that inquiries were ongoing.
