Brewer toasts export sales

BEER brewer Innis and Gunn is celebrating an increase in overseas demand with sales so far this year already topping last year’s total.

The Edinburgh-based company, which ages its beer in whisky barrels, yesterday revealed its turnover rose 20 per cent in 2010 to £5.2 million, with revenue for 2011 already in excess of this figure.

Exports accounted for 75 per cent of sales in 2010 – up from 65 per cent – but that figure has now risen to 80 per cent in the year so far, growing faster than predicted.

“The US has just surpassed one million bottle sales in only 12 months of trading – a real landmark for us.”
