In a statement, the musician said it was a “trip” to reflect on Pet Sounds, five decades on.

“It’s really been a trip to sit here and think about releasing Pet Sounds 50 years ago. I love performing this album with my band and look forward to playing it for fans all across the world.”

Wilson had been due to take the record on tour last year but had to postpone it due to his work on the biopic Love And Mercy.

But he has confirmed details of his return to the UK, along with Beach Boys bandmate Al Jardine and former member Blondie Chaplin.

It will be the last time Wilson performs Pet Sounds, which is widely hailed as one of the best albums of all time, in its entirety, so expect tickets to sell out fast.

As well as Pet Sounds, fans can expect “top hits and fan favourites spanning his 54-year career with The Beach Boys and as a solo artist”.

Tickets for the shows go on sale on Friday (29 Jan) at 9am.
