A BUILDER has been rushed to hospital after falling from a roof and impaling his leg on railings.
Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to free the man at Craigleith Road before he was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by the Medic One emergency care team just after 3pm.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “We got a call from the ambulance service to say a person who was working on the roof came off and was impaled on the railings below. The ambulance crew were already there and requested us to come with some cutting equipment.
“He was taken by Medic One to ERI.”
