Bulb planting campaign to light up city

A THOUSAND plant bulbs are to be donated to groups across Edinburgh as part of efforts to brighten up the city.

Dobbies Garden Centre has launched The Big Bulb Plant as part of its Here We Grow campaign, which gives support, equipment and assistance to communities in the city to get growing.

The retailer is offering a share of 1000 spring flowering bulbs to groups in Edinburgh and surrounding areas.

Dobbies wants to hear from community groups, projects, schools and charities that need help to brighten up their garden ready for the spring.

Dawn Gibson, community champion for Dobbies Garden World Edinburgh, said: “Last year, we helped create colourful spring gardens by donating 500 tulip bulbs to local community gardens, schools and areas which were in need of a flash of colour.

“This year, we have doubled the donation to further inspire and encourage our local community to get planting in autumn so everyone can enjoy brightly-coloured outdoor space during spring.”
