Bus chiefs in place to meet ‘significant challenges’

Two directors of Lothian Buses are set to be reappointed in order to face up to the “significant challenges” ahead.

City council chief executive Sue Bruce has recommended to councillors that non-executive directors Ian McKay and John Martin should be reappointed when their time on the board expires next month.

Mrs Bruce said ongoing work was taking place at Lothian Buses regarding “governance and human resources processes” and said new members of the board may slow the work.

She added: “The board will benefit from a period of stability. Lothian Buses is preparing for several significant challenges and it would be preferable to have continuity for the next couple of years.”

They will both be paid £9002 for their role as non-executive directors of the company.
