Superfast broadband is now available to homes and businesses in parts of Mid Calder.
Up to 3500 householders and firms are to benefit from the completion of an upgrade in the coming weeks.
West Lothian MP Graeme Morrice, who visited the Mid Calder exchange to see how the technology is delivered, said: “This is very welcome news for Mid Calder.
“Superfast broadband is an essential building block to economic recovery and growth.
“It gives our local firms a boost and brings us a competitive edge in attracting new businesses, jobs and investment.
“Residents will also benefit from being able to do more things, better and faster, online.”
BT’s local network business, Openreach, expects to make superfast broadband available to around two-thirds of UK homes and businesses by the end of 2014.
