Cabbie ‘may hold key to hit-and-run’

Police are trying to trace a taxi driver they hope could help them find a hit-and-run driver who left a schoolboy in the road with a broken leg.

Max Dunnigan, 13, was crossing the road in Queensferry Terrace at around 8.10am last Tuesday when he was involved in a collision with a blue family car, which drove off.

Witnesses believe a black Hackney cab may have been behind the vehicle that was involved in the collision. There may have been a light-coloured advertising skin on the taxi.

Max’s mother, Lorna Stirling, said: “I am appealing directly to the driver of the car to come forward and speak to police.

“The driver may have had a good reason not to stop at the time, or they might not have even known that they had hit Max. Either way, it is important we know the full circumstances.”

Call police on 0131-311 3131 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
