Call to target jobs blackspot

A CITY councillor has said more needs to be done to tackle unemployment in the north of the city.

The Evening News revealed yesterday that Edinburgh North and Leith remains the Capital’s unemployment “blackspot”, with 2871 people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance.

Forth councillor Cammy Day said: “I do not think that we are doing enough, quickly enough.

“In this city, we need to get people work-ready and into jobs.”
