A BUSY road has been closed after a lorry crashed through railings and collided into the back of a pub.

Police have closed Calton Road in both directions following the incident at around 3.15pm.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Pictures show the huge lorry perpendicular to the road, having appeared to have slipped off from the pavement above.

A huge chunk of wall can be seen collapsed under the weight of the vehicle, thought to be over eight tonnes.

The doors at the back of the lorry are open, with several beer kegs littering the street just outside the Black Bull pub.

It is thought the lorry, which advertises national drinks wholesaler Matthew Clark on the side, may have slipped on cobblestones following heavy rain in the city.

A police Scotland spokesman said: “We received a call at just before 3:15pm.

“The lorry collided with a building but there have been no injuries reported.

“We are now arranging for uplift.”
