The Capital plants roots

LOCAL gardening students from the Scottish Agricultural college were celebrating this week after their entry to the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show picked up a silver Gilt medal — the second highest award available.

The team of Tom Edgar, Matthew Lowe, Simon Garnett, Penny Wright, Anna Kapuvari and Karolina Tercjak won the prize for their Plant Explorer garden — developed from the original design by Karolina and entered in the Artisan Garden Class.

It was a fitting reward for their hard work, with the garden taking gruelling 13-hour days to complete — but the Capital has long been home to dedicated and passionate gardeners, such as 90-year-old Mr Giusepperisi, who didn’t let age stop
