Capital premiere for film focusing on feeling of loss

A SHORT film starring an Edinburgh man who suffered a serious brain injury in a motorbike crash 40 years ago has premiered in the Capital.

Listen to Me tells the story of a middle-aged man who is guided by the voices in his head and is based around George Lovell’s own experiences of coping with an illness others can’t see. George, 57, moved from the city to California as a child and at the age of 17 was involved in a serious road accident where he suffered broken bones and internal injuries.

He said the most devastating and long-lasting effect of the crash was severe concussion which caused his personality to change.

George said: “The film is not about me – it is a fictional drama – but it encapsulates the huge feeling of loss and frustration being different has made to my life.”
