TWO city universities have been ranked joint top in Scotland for their green credentials.

Bosses at Queen Margaret University said they were “delighted” after the
institution was awarded the number one spot, alongside Edinburgh Napier, in the People & Planet Green League 2013. The League is the UK’s only comprehensive and independent ranking of universities by ethical and environmental criteria.

The two Edinburgh-based universities were also ranked 34th in the UK, with a score of 43 out of 70.

QMU principal, Professor Petra Wend, welcomed the ranking and said: “Sustainability is at the centre of everything we do.”
