A STAR employee of car dealer Evans Halshaw Edinburgh is retiring after 16 years with the firm.
Hugh McKay, 65, has spent a third of his working life as the warranty administrator at the Sighthill dealership.
He is now looking forward to spending more time pursuing his favourite hobby – fishing.
Before beginning his career with the Renault and Peugeot dealership in 1997, Hugh worked as a service manager. In his role as warranty administrator, he was responsible for submitting warranty forms to various manufacturers.
Dealer principal Adrian Healy described his colleague as the best in the business, adding: “After his many years of dedication to Edinburgh Renault and Peugeot I’d like to wish Hugh a very happy retirement.
“He had an amazingly reassuring demeanour about him that meant he built excellent working relationships with customers, our various dealership sites and the car manufacturer head offices, and he was very well respected by all the staff here. He will be missed by us all and we wish him the best of luck.”
Hugh said he had “enjoyed every minute” of his time with the firm, adding: “It is the best job I’ve ever had and that’s why I’ve stayed so long. I’ll be very sad to leave the camaraderie of the team here.
“I’ve made lifelong friends during my time with Edinburgh Renault and Peugeot. My last day has been very emotional and it will be strange not having to go into the dealership every day. I’ll definitely be popping in from time to time to catch up with the team.”
