A THIEF stole a car after he picked the keys from its owner’s handbag as she visited a city centre attraction.

The culprit took the keys at around 12.40pm on Thursday before stealing the 2006 grey Citroen Xsara Picasso, which was parked outside the National Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street, a short time later.

The car owner was visiting the museum at the time.

The suspect is described as male, white, and wearing a black hooded top.

Constable Gemma Crolla said: “We are working to trace the vehicle, and would appeal for anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously – either in the museum or in Chambers Street – to get in touch.”
