CCTV under scrutiny after shop hit by knife raider

POLICE are on the hunt for a knife-wielding robber who stole a three-figure sum from a store in Livingston.

The incident happened in the Scotmid store on Main Street in the Deans area of the town at around 9.40pm on Monday. Two female members of staff were threatened with a knife by the balaclava-wearing raider.

The suspect is described as white, 6ft 2 ins, of stocky build and wearing dark jogging bottoms, a black zip jumper and a black balaclava.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “Both shop assistants were left extremely shaken, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

“Likewise, anyone who saw the suspect, or who recognises his description, should also contact police.”

A spokesman for the retailer said: “Scotmid is helping the police, has handed over CCTV footage and would appeal to anyone with any information to contact police in Livingston.”
