Centre set to be bulldozed

A COMMUNITY centre is set for demolition under plans put forward by council chiefs despite a campaign by local residents to save the building.

Midlothian Council officials submitted the controversial proposals to demolish Dalkeith Community Centre to make way for future development.

In June, around 80 campaigners marched to protest against the demolition of the centre. Midlothian Council is under pressure to save £3.5 million this year and earmarked the centre for demolition.
