Charities watchdog begins Mark Wright Project probe

the charities watchdog has confirmed that it is investigating veterans’ charity The Mark Wright Project.

The charity, set up by Bob and Jem Wright in memory of their son, who died in a minefield in Afghanistan in 2006, has been besest by infighting.

The investigation by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, or OSCR, follows complaints made by several users of the charity that Mr Wright had been bullying them. He has denied the claims. The service users say they have been barred from using the centre after complaining, despite several being in the middle of ongoing treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.

The charity, which runs a drop-in centre in Dalkeith, is also facing an employment tribunal from an ex-employee and has settled with a second.

An OSCR spokesman said: “We can confirm that we have an ongoing inquiry into The Mark Wright Project and therefore cannot comment further.”
