Charity plays it for laughs

A CHARITY which staged its own comedy competition during the Edinburgh Fringe has revealed the winning joke.

HIV charity Waverley Care launched the #laffoffstigma competition to raise awareness of the stigma experienced by people living with HIV.

The winning joke, by Tom Walton, who won £100, was: “Tried to book an Elvis impersonator once. Got put through to a call centre. Had to press 1 for the money, 2 for the show . . .”

The winning entry was chosen by Ryan Taylor, from the Pleasance. He said: “It’s been very gratifying to see people participate and we’re pleased Waverley Care is using humour to help people engage with stigma and discrimination.”
