Cinema set to screen opera performance

THE Cameo Cinema is to screen a performance of The Cunning Little Vixen from the Glyndebourne Festival on June 10.

The opera, by Leoš Janácek, features a cast of animal characters and is directed by Melly Still with performances by sopranos Emma Bell and Lucy Crowe as the Vixen and the Fox, respectively.

The show begins at 6.30pm.

Because the performance at Glyndebourne traditionally features a 90-minute interval for the audience to eat a three-course meal and walk around the grounds, the broadcast will begin after curtain-up, so that, with a 30 minute interval at the cinema, the screening will catch up by curtain-down.

It is the first of a series of Glyndebourne broadcasts through the cinema throughout the summer. Tickets are now on sale – for more information see www.picturehouses.co.uk.
