City cyclist tackles 1000-mile bid for charity

A CYCLIST from the Lothians is to join three friends on an epic bike ride across Europe from Italy to Wales to raise funds for cancer charities.

Kris Lindsay is taking part in the 1000-mile journey in memory of a friend’s grandmother, who recently lost her battle with the illness.

The 27-year-old and pals Scott Jenkins, Rhys Jenkins and David Thomas, all from Wales, will set off on the ten-day adventure on June 3.

Their efforts will begin in the Italian city of Turin and they’ll cycle north before ending up in Tiger Bay in Cardiff.

In total, they will pedal through five countries, 50 towns and five cities, tackling mountains and varying terrain along the way.

Kris, a procurement specialist and keen cyclist who takes in around 100 miles per week, said: “I’m so pleased that we have been able to come together to support such a fantastic cause.

“This challenge is about trying to help, trying to make a difference – and what better way to do it?”

Funds raised will be donated to McMillan Cancer Research and the Dumfries and Galloway Endowment Fund.
