City hotel prices dip but stay the highest in Scotland

HOTEL prices in the Capital have dipped by two per cent year-on-year, but remain the most expensive in Scotland.

The average price per room per night in the Capital during the first half of the year was £97.

The figures from Hotels.com also showed that the Capital was the second most popular UK destination for foreign visitors after London, and the third most popular for all British travellers.

Matt Walls, vice-president of Hotels.com, said: “There was a mixed picture for Scottish hotel prices in the first half of 2011. Edinburgh stayed the most expensive destination in Scotland but there was a two per cent fall in prices.”

The average cost of a hotel room across the UK fell by one per cent to £82 a night.

Mr Walls said: “The overall fall in UK hotel prices made domestic hotels attractive to British consumers struggling with rising inflation.”
