Claim Grahame breached parliamentary laws

THE Scottish Parliament’s justice committee convener Christine Grahame has been reported for allegedly breaching parliamentary election laws.

The SNP MSP for Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale was reported to Lothian and Borders police by former employee Mark Hirst over allegations of misuse of parliamentary staff and breaking rules on donations.

The police said they had investigated the complaint. It is understood that they plan no further action, but that the allegations have now been passed to the Scottish Parliament’s standards committee.

A spokesman for the MSP said: “Ms Grahame cannot comment in relation to Mr Hirst as he has been dismissed for gross misconduct.” Mr Hirst also said he could not comment.
