City centre traffic has been disrupted after a man allegedly jumped from North Bridge on to the roof of Waverley Station.
Police and emergency services climbed onto the roof to negotiating with the man, before medical staff strapped him to a spinal board and carried him to a waiting ambulance.
He was then taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary under police escort.
During the incident North Bridge was closed off to traffic and pedestrians, and there were reports all trains from the station had been stopped with passengers saying they had been told they were “going nowhere” for a while.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh are currently in attendance in the North Bridge area following reports of concerns for a male on the roof of Waverley Bridge. Officers are currently engaging with the male to resolve the matter.”
A spokeswoman from the fire service said that a line rescue team was at the scene.
