Officers said concern was growing for the 31-year-old’s wellbeing.

An investigation is now under way in his local area with door-to-door inquiries being carried out in an attempt to retrace the steps he took two days ago. A police spokesman said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for David’s safety as he has been gone more than 24 hours now, and has not made contact with his family and friends.

“We would ask anyone who may think they might
have seen him in the past couple of days to contact us urgently.”

Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131.
