City leader Jenny Dawe was today set to meet former US vice-president Al Gore to discuss opportunities in renewable energy.
Mr Gore is among the keynote speakers at the Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference, which concludes at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre today.
Cllr Dawe is among the guests who will meet with Mr Gore, a climate change campaigner and Nobel laureate.
She said: “I got an invitation through to meet up afterwards and there is a half-hour meeting planned. He is an extremely influential figure on environmental matters, so it will be very interesting to meet him.”
Cllr Dawe said that the conference, which began yesterday and concludes today, will give her the opportunity to hear from influential figures that will help influence how the council delivers on “very challenging targets”.
The conference was opened by First Minister Alex Salmond yesterday.
