Crackdown in city squares

Have your say

POLICE have carried out stop-and-search operations in three city squares in a bid to tackle antisocial behaviour, drug misuse, and violations of alcohol by-laws.

Officers conducted the searches in Nicolson, Bristo and St Patrick’s squares as part of Operation Allegro.

More than 100 people were searched, with 15 per cent of the checks proving “positive” for drugs, stolen property or alcohol. Nine people were also arrested on outstanding warrants.
