A WOMAN had to be cut from a vehicle today after a four-car pile-up which forced the Edinburgh City Bypass to close.
Emergency services raced to the scene after the collision on the A720 eastbound at the Gilmerton junction around 1.20pm.
Four cars were involved in the crash – two Vauxhall Corsas, a Citroen Picasso and a Nissan Navaro.
The woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance after being cut free from a vehicle by fire crews.
It is understood that there were no serious injuries as a result of the crash.
Both lanes of the City Bypass were closed eastbound for about an hour.
One lane reopened to traffic at about 2.30pm, with the second opening roughly 45 minutes later.
