13 Edinburgh teens charged with committing 100 crimes in THREE weeks

Police in Edinburgh have charged thirteen teenagers following a spate of crimes committed in the City Centre area.

The offences took place over a three-week period from Friday 20 October and officers have identified over 40 crimes that have been committed in this time.

Thirteen teenagers, aged between 14 and 17-years-old, have now been charged in connection with 108 offences.

The crimes committed have included antisocial behaviour, shoplifting, theft, robbery and assault.

Local officers have undertaken extensive enquiries that has included working with partners in schools, colleges, and businesses to identify and trace those responsible.

Constable Martyn Coulter from Edinburgh’s West End Police Station said: “Officers from the City Centre Community Team have adopted a multi-agency approach and this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.

“The safety of our local communities and the businesses within remains a priority for officers, with this especially pertinent during the festive period when the city centre sees an increase in visitors.”
