£15,000 raised for Jill Pirrie's family

MORE than £15,000 has now been raised for the family of tragic nurse Jill Pirrie, who was killed earlier this month by a car involved in a police chase.

Colleagues at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary set up a fundraising page just days after her death on Thursday, May 12, to raise funds for her five year-old son, Matthew.

Around £1000 has been raised every day since the page went live – with generous donators from all over the world giving money.

Jill, 33, was walking home from her shift at the Royal Infirmary when she was struck by a silver Ford Ka on Kingston Avenue – less than a mile from her home on Ravenswood Avenue – that was being pursued by police. Dylan Jenkin, 18, has since appeared in court in connection with the incident.
