Arrest made after report of assault in Wardie Steps

A man has been arrested following reports of an assault in the Wardie Steps area of Granton in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The 45-year-old was detained after the police were called to an incident at around 2.20am.

Officers are continuing with their inquiries and anyone with information is asked to contact them.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh were called to the Wardie Steps area at around 2.20am on Wednesday 25 July following a report of an assault.

“A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Drylaw Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 0360 of 25 July, or report this anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
