The bomb squad have been called out to dispose of a ‘suspicious item’ found in Kirkcaldy.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal and police were spotted at work on the seafront near the promenade at about midday today, September 10.

Police confirmed specialist officers were called to remove a suspicious looking object from the beach.

Residents reported police were asking people to get off the beach while the team was at work on the town’s seafront.

A police spokeswoman said: “At about 12.35pm on Thursday 10 September, police were called to a report of a suspicious item discovered on Kirkcaldy Beach, Esplanade.

"Officers and EOD are in attendance and the item has been removed for safe disposal.”
