Burned by tanning salon fraud deal

A BUSINESS deal gone wrong has landed a county woman an appearance in court.

Julie Forman, of Gyler’s Road, Dirleton, entered into an agreement with Kristopher Millar to open a tanning salon.

But things turned sour between the pair when 44-year-old Forman embezzled £4000 from Mr Millar.

Forman appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday where she admitted the embezzling offence.

Sentence was deferred to January 20 next year for the preparation of reports.

Forman pleaded guilty to an amended charge of embezzling £4000 while engaged in a joint enterprise to open a tanning salon with Kristopher Millar between May 15 and May 20 last
year.

The original charge stated Forman swindled a total of £6500 from Mr Millar but the amount was dropped following consultations with the Crown.

Forman was also sentenced to 150 hours of community service following an appearance at Haddington Sheriff Court in 2011 after admitting embezzling £1595 from Prestonpans Yachting and Boating Club.
