Cars stolen and supermarket robbed in Dalkeith

TWO cars were stolen after thieves broke into a house and took the keys.

A red Ford Focus and a blue Volkswagen Golf were taken from outside the property in Avenue Road, Dalkeith, around 1am on Sunday.

The Focus was then found in the Carberry Court area of Whitecraig, East Lothian, around 4.30am – 15 minutes before the Golf was found in Gibson Drive, Dalkeith, around 4.45am.

A second break-in took place at the Sainsbury’s in Thorny Crook Terrace, Dalkeith, around 2.50am. Thieves swiped hundreds of pounds, cigarettes and alcohol.

Detective Inspector Paul Batten of Livingston CID said: “We’re currently treating these break-ins as linked and are appealing for the public’s help as part of our investigation.

“I’d urge anyone who may have witnessed the break-ins or saw suspicious behaviour in these areas to get in touch as soon as possible.

“Anyone who may have seen the vehicles travelling between these locations is also asked to come forward.”
