Drinker ‘in cry for help’

Have your say

A REFORMED alcoholic walked through a West Lothian town armed with a knife, a court heard yesterday.

Gavin Singleton, who also beat heroin addiction five years ago, slashed himself after hitting the bottle again because of problems at home.

But Livingston Sheriff Court was told yesterday that he was only a danger to himself.

When police found 44-year-old Singleton, from Blackburn, in Bathgate town centre he had slashed his own arm in what his lawyer said was a “cry for help”. Sentence was deferred for reports.
