Driver ‘going through hell’ after accident

A LEARNER driver accused of killing his girlfriend in a high-speed crash suffers regular “flashbacks” to the fatal accident, a court has heard.

Student Laura Campbell, 22, died after Euan Tennant’s sports car spun out of control on a bend and crashed into an oncoming vehicle.

Tennant, 22, of York Place, Edinburgh, told a trial at Perth Sheriff Court that he thought about Miss Campbell every day and said he had “been going through hell” since the accident.

He also told the court that he had not driven since crashing his 21-year-old Toyota MR2 and did not intend on driving again for the rest of his life.

“I am still suffering from it,” Tennant said. “I get nightmares, flashbacks and I can’t sleep. Every day I miss Laura.”

Tennant denies causing Miss Campbell’s death by driving carelessly and at excessive speed.

The trial continues.
