Drunk Edinburgh driver caught with haul of Class A drugs

A DRUNK driver was found to be carrying thousands of pounds of Class A drugs when he was pulled over by police last year.

Paul Taylor, 29, was stopped by officers due to the manner of his driving as he made his way along Niddrie Mains Drive in Edinburgh in October last year.

A breath test revealed he was almost twice the drink drive limit and £6000 of heroin along with £2100 of cocaine was discovered in his vehicle.

Taylor, of Niddrie House Avenue, admitted three offences during an appearance Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Sheriff John Mundy sentenced Taylor to a two-year offenders supervision order and told him he must carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the community.

He was also handed a 7pm to 7am restriction of liberty order for six months and banned from driving for three years.

Taylor had also admitted to driving a vehicle with 41mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath during the same incident.
